Victor was in a really bad accident that left him partially paralyzed. He had spent several years in the hospital for treatment and was finally living on his own. But he needed help. Victor needed an electronic scooter to help him get around. Since he couldn’t afford it on his own, he applied for assistance from the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
But Victor’s application was denied. He didn’t know what to do, so he turned to Texas RioGrande Legal Aid for help.
TRLA represented Victor in an administration hearing with the Commission to appeal the decision to deny him help with the scooter. TRLA was successful in reversing the denial and Victor received his scooter. He continues to use the scooter to get around the Rio Grande Valley.
