Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) attorney Pablo Almaguer was recently elected the chair of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors.
Almaguer is the first legal aid attorney to serve on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors and is also the first to chair the entity. He was elected to the position in April and officially began his one-year term during the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting held earlier this month.
“Pablo’s continued involvement with the State Bar is symbolic of the strengthening relationship between legal aid organizations and the private bar,” said TRLA Executive Director David Hall. “He has been a key figure at moving that relationship forward in recent years.”
Originally from the Rio Grande Valley,Almaguer currently serves as TRLA’s Private Attorney Involvement Group Coordinator. He was previously the branch manager of TRLA’s Edinburg office and is a former president of the Hidalgo County Bar Association. He also currently serves as President of the Board of Directors of the Texas Civil Rights Project and is a co-founder of the Hidalgo County Domestic Relations Office Advisory Board.
“I don’t know when he finds the time to sleep,” added Hall. “But both the State Bar and the legal aid community are better off with his passion and determination.”
Almaguer is married to fellow TRLA attorney Linley Boone and the two are expecting their first child together this year.
