TRLA Attorney Nelson Mock was recognized earlier today with the 2011 J. Chrys Dougherty Legal Services Award as part of the Pro Bono Excellence Awards presented during the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in San Antonio.
The award was presented by the State Bar of Texas Legal Services to the Poor in Civil Matters Committee and aims to recognize an outstanding legal services attorney. Mock, a legal aid attorney from the beginning of his career, is the managing attorney for the landlord-tenant team in our Austin office. He is also the founding chair of the State Bar Poverty Law Section and the creator of the Poverty Law Section’s monthly First Friday CLE training series.
Mock is the second TRLA attorney in recent years to win the Dougherty award. In 2008 TRLA attorney Rodney Nelson was honored with the recognition. Mock’s supervisor, Fred Fuchs, was the first recipient of the award.
