2013 Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) is proud to join organizations across the country in recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Every year TRLA helps more than 22,000 low-income Texans with their civil legal needs. Many of those Texans are victims of domestic violence looking for the legal protections available to help them leave their abusers. Victims come to TRLA through the standard intake hotline and through TRLA’s relationship with domestic violence shelters throughout the state. Through these channels, victims are assured that they will receive access to a full range of support when they turn to someone for help.

Throughout the month we will be reviewing our work with victims of domestic violence, the stories of survivors who have dedicated their lives to helping others, and important statistics on the prevalence of domestic violence in Texas.  To be kept up to date on our exploration of this topic, be sure to like us on Facebook or follow us on Twitter.
