Held from May 4-6th at the Omni Colonnade, the conference brought together TRLA attorneys and advocates from our partner agencies throughout our service area to discuss best practices for helping victims of family violence. Throughout the three-day period, presentations covered topics including safety planning, immigration, and legislative updates. The last day of the conference focused on self-care strategies to help advocates avoid burnout and ensure they take care of themselves.
The conference concluded with a keynote from Chief Justice Nathan Hecht of the Texas Supreme Court. Attendees were also able to hear Aimee, a survivor of sexual assault, tell the story of how agency partnerships helped connect her with the legal resources she needed to take back her life . Additionally, ten private attorneys were recognized for their pro bono efforts to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The attorneys recognized include:
- James Cramp, San Antonio
